Before diving into the RAM usage tips, we should know what a RAM is ?
I am briefly describing what RAM does if you are not familiar.
RAM means random access memory. This is a short-term storage device that currently contains programs running on your computer.
The more RAM you have on your machine, the more programs you can run without negatively affecting performance. When your computer runs low on RAM, it uses a piece of hard drive called Page File that acts as a “Present RAM” actual.
5 Ways to Free RAM –
1. Restart your PC
This is a tip you were probably familiar with, but it is popular for a reason.
Restarting your PC will clear memory and reset all running programs. This will probably not increase your total RAM, it will clear the processes running in the background which may drain the RAM.
Your computer should be restarted regularly so that it does not feel stressful to you, especially if you use it all the time.
2. Check RAM usage
No need to guess what your RAM is using; Windows provides tools to show you. To get started, open the task manager by searching for it in the Start menu or using the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
Click on more details to expand the entire utility if needed. Then on the Processes tab, click the memory title to pick from the maximum amount of RAM usage. Remember the applications you see here, as we will talk more about them later.
For more information, switch to the Performance tab. In the Memory section, you’ll see a chart of your RAM usage over time. Click on the Open Resource Monitor below and you can find more information.
3. Uninstall or disable the software
When you see that applications use the most RAM on your system, think about whether you really use them. Apps you haven’t opened in months are just wasting resources on your computer, so you should remove them. Do this by navigating to Settings> Applications and clicking Uninstall on any app you want to delete.
If you don’t want to uninstall an app because you use it sometimes, you can prevent it from running at startup instead. Many apps are set to run automatically when you login, which is inefficient if you rarely use them.
4. Use the lighter app and manage programs
If you really need to reduce the use of RAM, are RAM RAM apps required for your workflow? You can work with it in two ways.
First try using the Light Application options when you can. If you have a computer battle when Photoshop is open, try using a small application like Paint.NET for minor editing. Use Photoshop only when you are completely dedicated to working on a project.
Second, pay attention to the programs you open. Turn off software you are not actively working on. Bookmark the open browser tabs you want to read later, then close them to free up RAM. Keeping a tight lock on what’s open will help free up the RAM.
5. Scan for malware
It is worth checking for malware on your PC. Incomplete software theft resources will obviously suck up your available RAM.
I recommend running a scan with malware bytes. Hopefully it doesn’t get anything, but at least you can blow away the possibility.
